Periodontology or Periodontics (from Greek peri "around"; and odons "tooth") is the specialty of dentistry that studies supporting structures of teeth, diseases, and conditions that affect them.

Periodontists require three years of additional education beyond dental school to diagnose and treat periodontal (gum) disease and other related oral conditions at a specialist level.

Dr. Ernest Stross began his career in dentistry over 25 years ago, graduating from the University of Toronto with a B.Sc., D.D.S., Dip.Perio. He is a Certified Specialist in Periodontics.
